I've had a few people ask about mini_fest for 2021, and I've once again crawled out of my hiatus to try and offer a very small version of our fest this year and keep the tradition going.

As last year, I'm not expecting a large turn-out, but if you'd like to send us some prompts or submissions we can have another MINI mini-fest this year.

We will follow the same basic fest rules again with a modified posting schedule depending on how many submissions we receive.

(We won't be able to post every day in December, but depending on how many signups/submissions we have will determine how posting works)

Tentative Timeline:
Prompting: December 1-5
Signups open: December 1
Last day to send your work: December 20 (but the earlier the better)
Posting Start: TBD depending on number of submissions

Again, it'll likely be a smaller fest this year, but if you can spread the word and send us any holiday ficlets or art, we can continue the tradition of of our low stress holiday mini-fest!

Give a shout in comments and answer the questions below if you're interested in joining us for a 2021 [community profile] mini_fest!

Name?
Are you interested in prompting for mini_fest?
Are you interested in creating for mini_fest? (fic, art, something else?)
Would you be interested if mini-fest was run through a discord server?
On what platform(s) would you prefer to follow mini-fest?

I'm so very sorry that we are so late to the party this year.

I know a few of you have asked about a [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest for 2020, and I've crawled out of my hibernation cave to try and offer a very small version of our fest this year to keep the tradition going.

I'm not expecting a large turnout, but if you'd like to send us some prompts or submissions we'll have a modified fest this year.

We will follow the same basic fest rules this year, except we'll have a modified posting schedule depending on how many submissions we receive.

(We won't be able to post every day in December, but even if we have just a very few signups/submissions we'll post them all in one go on or near Christmas.)

Timeline
Prompting: November 28 - December 1
Signups open: December 1
Last day to send your work: December 20 (but the earlier the better)
Posting Start: TBD depending on number of submissions

It'll be a smaller fest this year, but please spread the word and send us any holiday ficlets or art and we'd love to share them!

Mini Fest Guidelines/Rules

# [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest is a prompt based fest. If you cannot find something that inspires you from the current list of prompts, check the lists from previous years and see if something inspires you from there.

# Fic submissions must be at least 500 words long. There is no upper word limit, so if you want to write something that is 30,000 words you are more than welcome to.

# Submissions can be any rating, any pairing/moresome, and any genre. This applies to both fic and art.

# All submissions must have a theme of any holiday held during December. This includes Christmas, Hanukah, Traditional Yule, Winter Solstice, or New Years celebrations.

# Prompts are available for use by everyone and can be used by multiple participants.

# You can use as many prompts as you wish, in any combination you wish. E.g Harry and Draco want to go somewhere warm for the holidays, Picture prompt of a beach, "I'm sick of freezing my bits off", watching an eclipse.

# You are more than welcome to submit more than one entry. The more the merrier.

# Art can be any of the following: Traditional art (pencil, painting, digital etc.), photo manipulations, graphics or handmade crafts e.g Christmas tree ornaments.

# Chan is allowed, providing it is properly warned for.

# Participation is through registering your interest on the sign-up post and giving an indication if you will submit Fic, Art or Both. Sign ups will close one week before entries are due.

# All entries must be emailed to HPMINIFEST at GMAIL dot COM

# There will be no penalties if you cannot fulfill your registered interest in this fest. December is a busy time of year for everyone, and this is supposed to be fun and relaxed, everyone knows that Real Life gets in the way of our fandom lives from time to time.

# Don't forget to to add [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest to your friends list, so that you don't miss any important information regarding the fest.

# If for whatever reason you need to pull out please just email the mods HPMINIFEST at GMAIL dot COM and let them know that you need to pull out.

# If you’re submitting fics please ensure that it has been beta read, is free from errors and that you are happy for it to be posted as it is received. If for whatever reason your regular beta is unavailable let the mods know and we will see what we can do.

# Fic must have all relevant HTML coding for bold, italics, centering and anything else that you require for your fic. If you are unfamiliar with HTML [livejournal.com profile] phoenixacid has a beginners guide to HTML here

# Please use the following header:

# Submissions are due on November 20, approximately two weeks before posting which starts on December 1.

# Submissions will be posted anonymously, by [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest_mod with reveals occurring in the New Year, within the first week of January.

# Any questions can be sent to HPMINIFEST at GMAIL dot COM.

The due date for [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest is November 20!

We've already started to receive some fabulous entries, so I thought it was time for a couple of reminders!

Here are a few things that will make your mod's job much easier as we prepare to receive submissions:

- Please send your submissions to: hpminifest at gmail.com

- Include your name in the email subject as well as 'fic' or 'art'.

- Include your header in both the .doc and the email.

- Please place an lj-cut tag in your story.
The lj-cut text should be "The Title of your Fic". < lj-cut text="FIC TITLE" >

- Check the formatting of your fic to ensure there are manual line breaks between paragraphs.

- Include all other other html coding that is needed. You may want to test post your submission in a private entry to your journal before submitting to be sure that the coding is correct.

- The fic/art header appears below.

Remember, if you need a beta you can check with [livejournal.com profile] hp_betas or [livejournal.com profile] hp_betas_wanted. If you have done so, and are still having a problem finding someone to look over your story, please the mods know.

If you think you will need an extension, please let us know ASAP!

Thank you very much to all who have supported the fest! We are looking forward to all your fabulous creations!

[identity profile] brissygirl.livejournal.com

[community profile] mini_fest  is the brain child of [personal profile] brissygirl  who after seeing all the Christmas fests that were requesting sign-ups before the end of August. Decided to try and run a small christmas fest. Where you can write/draw whatever you like whatever rating you like, whatever pairing you like.

If you like to read and write/draw slash then go for it. If you're into the Marauders while they were at Hogwarts then write/draw something about what they got upto during all those full moons or James trying to court Lily and failing miserably. Basically anything goes!

If you're writing you are only required to write a 500 word ficlet of any genre, pairing, era that you like. There is no word limit other than the 500 words that you start with. If your muse if playing nicely and you want to write 5000 words you are more than welcome too.

If you're drawing pretty much anything goes.

All I ask is since this is a Christmas fest that entries have a Christmas theme of some description. There will be prompts to come shortly, if you would like to contribute to the list of prompts feel free to leave a comment here at
[community profile] mini_fest or on [personal profile] brissygirl's journal entries regarding this fest.

There will be more details to come during the coming days.
