Mini_Fest Guidelines/Rules

 

# Fic submissions should be at least 500 words long, if you want to write something longer go for it.

# Submissions can be any rating, any pairing, and any genre. This applies to both fic’s and art.

# All submissions must have a theme of Christmas. This includes traditional Yule or Winter Solstice celebrations. As well as any other religious or non religious holiday celebration, held the same time of year. 

# Prompts are available for use by everyone and can be used by multiple participants.

# You can use as many prompts as you wish, in any combination you wish.

# You are more than welcome to submit more than one entry. The more the merrier.

# Participation is through registering your interest. On the sign-up post and giving an indication if you will submit Fic or Art. There is no cut off date for sign-ups at this stage. However this could change due to participation levels.

# There will be no penalties if you cannot fulfil your registered interest in this fest. Christmas is a busy time of year for everyone, and this is supposed to be fun and relaxed, everyone knows that Real Life gets in the way of our fandom lives from time to time.

# If for whatever reason you need to pull out please just email the mods mini_fest AT live DOT com and let them know that you need to pull out

# If you’re submitting fic’s please ensure that it’s been beta read and that you are happy for it to be posted as it is received. If for whatever reason your regular beta is unavailable let the mods know and we will see what we can do.

# Submissions are due Monday 23 November 2009.

# Submissions will be posted anonymously, with reveals occurring in the New Year, probably in the first week of January.

# Any questions can be sent to mini_fest AT live DOT com

# If you wish to write/draw a sequel to one of your entries, you are more than welcome to do so. Please just let the mods know which order you would like them posted in. If you are able to send the entries in one email that would make our lives easier.

The list of prompts is 4 pages long getting closer to 5 now! I don't think your brain could take trying to write fics for that many prompts as well as tackle your hd_hols fic. LOL

We need some Het scenarios 95% of the prompts are slash.

This is great! I get all wistful looking at the fest sign-ups, but I shouldn't put my name down if I'm not confident I can complete the project. Plus most of the fic requirements are too long.

I know the feeling. I was going to sign up to at least one christmas fest, but I have two chapters of my Harry/Severus/Charlie fic that need my attention plus a twilight fic that has 3 chapters outlined but are no where near ready to post anywhere yet. So I will concentrate on them for now.

Not to mention organising and running this. Darkfest will have to do for now, that's completed. I'm waiting for my beta to return it so I can edit the thing and get it sent off.

I know the feeling. I'm waiting on the return of the last section of the mer-fic from the betas, so I can FINALLY post it. You'd think it was "War and Peace", it's taken me that long! I've started working on the Severus Big Bang Birthday Bash fic, which is due sometime soon. And it's meant to be a long one...

hp_darkfest, it's my first fest and I normally can't read and writing dark stuff. But I had this idea in my head that wouldn't go away and I had a fic to submit before sign-ups closed. So I entered.

Yeah I got the prompts, I just haven't added them yet, my brain was pretty fried the other day after fighting with Lj trying to get the sign up post to co-operate with what I wanted to do. I ended up emailing one of my co-mods in a panic coz the stupid thing wouldn't sit under a cut, I didn't want people to complain. She fixed it for me.

I will add the prompts to the list and let everyone know that the list has been updated.

I'm slightly confused - my normal state of being - about the prompts. Are we claiming them, or just choosing them on our own? Meaning several people could write the same prompt? (Not that that's a bad thing - I just wondered how we're doing this)

Anyone can choose as many prompts in any combination as they want. And multiple participants can use the same prompt.

I have a questiom before I sign up. I might have missed it but are ALL ratings welcomed and for the 2nd Prompt Table can pairings not listed in the 1st Prompt Table be written about like say Pansy/Ginny or Salazar/Godric

Sure, I don't have a problem with you swapping characters around to make your fic work. I asked for prompts thinking I'd get things more along the lines of what is on list 2, but I get a bunch of scenarios as well. Oh well, who cares as long as everyone has fun.

another "dumb" question please. Do I have to choose a Prompt from List 1 & List 2 or can I just choose 3 or 4 prompts from just List 2?

Not at all. Choose your prompts from either list and use them in any combination that your muse desires. e.g eggnogg, Ron and Hermione shagging under the Christmas tree, santa hat.
