I absolutely adore this piece. I know it's supposed to be sad, and yet I can't bring myself to feel that way about it. It's real and true and honest in a way that fanfic very rarely is. There's no surprise cure, no jumping out of the woodwork with a potion to save the day. It's just... real life. And yes, even in the wizarding world, these things just happen. And it's horrible. But it'll be okay.
It does feel hopeful, which is another part I love. It isn't dark or even all that angsty, it's genuine.
